A pathway to change
Programming 101
Girls enter our program in third grade and we continue to work with the same girls until they graduate from college. To help the girls in our program shift out of generational poverty, we help them build skills sets that tend to be missing from under-resourced communities of color. Our Super Power Youth Development curriculum helps ensure that the girls in our program are enhancing these skill sets daily and, in turn, our curriculum helps rewrite the narrative around the possibilities for girls from under-resourced communities of color.
Our superpowered girls will help ensure that every girl has an opportunity to achieve their dreams and an opportunity to create new degrees of visibility for girls all over the world. With that being said, their superpowered journey starts slowly. In their first year of programming, the girls learn about three superpowers. Each year, we add in another superpower until they are working on all seven superpowers simultaneously which begin in 8th grade. Please find our seven superpowers cited below:

-
Educational Development (Power Over Your Mind) that focuses on English Language Arts, Math, and STEAM
-
Financial Literacy (Power Over Your Wealth) that focuses on money basics, earning money, spending money, and saving money
-
Arts Awareness (Power Over Your Imagination) that focuses on Visual Arts concepts like the color wheel, tint, hatching, and perspective.
-
Health & Nutrition (Power Over Your Body) that focuses on concepts like energy balance, food groups, bullying, and peer pressure
-
Leadership Development (Power Over Your Agency) that focuses on building effective leadership skills, qualities, and traits
-
Civics & Public Policy (Power Over Your Community that focuses on concepts like the Constitution, landmark cases, branches of government, and community-level change
-
